Shuhei Yoshida, the leader of the Sony Worldwide Studios, says that his company is actively trying to attract a wide variety of developers to the new PlayStation 4 home console and that it wants to move beyond the classic line-up of first-person shooters.
The executive tells Edge that Sony was careful when it chose to show off Knack as the first title for the new hardware during the New York reveal.
He states, "We were like yeah we hate to see all the PS4 games being FPS or action-adventure or very photorealistic, you know big-budget blockbuster games."
He adds, "And you know people like these games but these are not the only kinds of games that people can have fun with."
Sony has also been courting indie developers and will get exclusive access to the new title from Braid creator Jonathan Blow.
