Windows 10 Redstone 4 could launch as Spring Creators Update

Microsoft logoMicrosoft is expected to finalize the next Windows 10 release codenamed Redstone 4 as soon as next month, with the production ring likely to get it in March.

And while the company hasnt yet announced an official name for this release, information that Microsoft included in the latest Bug Bash for Windows insiders (and spotted by @WinObs) suggests Redstone 4 could launch as Spring Creators Update.

This would be the third Creators Update update that Microsoft brings to the market, after the original Creators Update in the spring of 2017 and the Fall Creators Update last October. Without a doubt, using the Spring Creators Update designation could seriously create confusion in the community, especially because the original Creators Update also landed in the spring.

Version numbers, however, will help differentiate each release. The original Creators Update was version 1703, while the Fall Creators Update hit the market as 1709. The Spring Creators Update should go live as version 1803.

Microsoft hasnt yet confirmed the name, though including it in the Bug Bash is solid evidence that the company indeed plans to launch Redstone 4 as Spring Creators Update.

If this is the case, then the software giant once again wants to put the focus on features aimed at creators, as it was the case in the previous releases when it highlighted Windows Ink and Paint 3D.

In the meantime, Microsoft continues working on improving the Redstone 4 update and the currently running Bug Bash should lead to a substantial pack of bug fixes and improvements released in the coming builds. The closer we get to the official launch date, the more the focus will be switched to refining OS performance, as Microsoft needs to prepare the update for production systems as well.

Were still waiting for an official announcement from Microsoft regarding the official name of the Redstone 4 update, so in the meantime take this report with a healthy pinch of salt.
