Windows 10 Updates wont stop even if youre on a metered connection

Microsoft logoMicrosoft had to take a lot of criticism for the aggressive way that it was pushing Windows 10 updates so it decided to improve the entire experience with the Windows 10 Creators Update. It has detailed how the upcoming major update will be better at this. Thats all good, but the company has also pointed out that the latest version of Windows will keep downloading updates automatically that the company feels are required to keep Windows running smoothly.

Windows 10 Updates wont stop even if youre on a metered connection

This means that if youre on a metered internet connection where you might get billed on usage, you may get a bill shock at the end of the month. Hopefully, the company wont push hefty updates automatically just because it decides that those updates are absolutely essential to ensure that Windows keeps running smoothly.

When contacted for more information by Supersite Windows, Microsoft explained that while it will avoid pushing large patches for automatic download, the system will download critical fixes on its own. However, the company has not defined a threshold so its unclear just how much an automatic Windows 10 update might weigh in at.

Those with metered connections would obviously want to know that if theyre to avoid running up a huge data bill at the end of the month. One can only hope that the company provides more clarity about this and put users with metered internet connections at ease.
