Blizzard job listing hints at potentially new Diablo game

Diablo 3 logoDiablo 3 is the latest installment in the Diablo franchise and was released in 2012. Its expansion, Reaper of Souls, was released two years later in 2014, and given that we are in 2016, does this mean we can expect a new Diablo title or expansion? According to a recent job listing, it seems that Blizzard could be hiring for a new Diablo-related project.

The company is currently seeking a lighting artist, senior character artist, and a senior concept artist. According to the job description, “We’re looking for artists that are self-starting, versatile, and enjoy being part of a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate shares our sensibilities, loves dark medieval worlds, and feels there are countless stories left to tell in the Diablo universe!”

Following the release of Reaper of Souls, Blizzard stated that the company was evaluating the game’s future. There have been rumors about a new Diablo expansion that was supposed to debut at BlizzCon 2015, but safe to say that did not happen. At most what we got was a new patch that introduced a new zone and a host of new features, which we guess almost feels like an expansion.

A job listing from last year also suggested that Blizzard could be working on new Diablo content, but so far nothing has materialized. In any case given that Diablo is one of Blizzard’s more stable franchises, it is unlikely that they will abandon it, but whether or not we will see Diablo 4 or a new expansion is currently anyone’s guess.
