iOS 9 Beta 1 is now available for download

Скачать iOS 9 Beta могут разработчикиIt's traditional for Apple to roll out the first beta of a major new iOS version straight after announcement, and Cupertino has stuck to the script by releasing iOS 9 beta 1 to developers. There's no public release as yet, so you'll need to be enrolled in Apple's Developer Program if you wish to test out some of the new features right now.

At the Worldwide Developers Conference 2015, Apple has taken the wraps off a number of new features, including some useful-looking battery-saving tweaks, and split-screen multitasking, among others. There seems to be a considerable emphasis on refining the overall performance and improving what's already there, rather than adding an array of new features, which should help to ensure that iOS 9 is Apple's smoothest piece of software to date.

If you are a developer, you can snap up the first iOS 9 beta from the Dev Center, provided you're running one of the following devices:

  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 5s
  • iPhone 5c
  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 4s
  • iPad Air 2
  • iPad Air
  • iPad mini 3
  • iPad mini 2
  • iPad mini
  • iPad 4
  • iPad 3
  • iPad 2
  • iPod touch 5th-gen

If you're not a developer but still want in, you needn't be disheartened. Apple has already promised that as of next month, a public beta of iOS 9 will be rolled out to mere mortals. As we've seen with past public beta releases, the system will require opting in using an Apple ID, and from there, users will be able to experience the progression of iOS 9 first-hand, without having to wait until the final, non-beta'd public drop.

If you are a developer and do happen to download iOS 9 Beta 1, let us know of your initial impressions via the comments.
