Android 4.4.2 KitKat test firmware for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 leaks

Samsung logoAs expected, the first Android 4.4.2 KitKat test firmware for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has just been leaked online. The good news is the build leaked is one of the final versions of the KitKat update, so there won't be any new features included, but none will be removed either.

According to SamMobile, the source of this leak, this test firmware can be flashed on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 version SM-N9005. The latter features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 chipset, so those who own this model may want to try upgrading to Kitkat now.

This is the second Kitkat ROM for a Samsung smartphone coming from SamMobile, after a few days ago a similar update was leaked for Galaxy S4.

The changes included in the current KitKat build for Galaxy Note 3 seem to be similar to those of the Galaxy S4, so here is another common fact.

SamMobile reports that there are some minor changes to the user interface like the status bar icons which have been changed from green to white to reflect the upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat.

Furthermore, the overall performance is another things that's been significantly improved with the KitKat update, which explains the high AnTuTu Benchmark results posted a few hours earlier by SamMobile.

It is also worth mentioning Samsung added some enhancements to the lockscreen and included a camera shortcut on the lockscreen just like in Galaxy S4's case. Another nice gimmick is the fact that during music playback the album art is fully shown on the lockscreen.

Before flashing this Android 4.4.2 KitKat test firmware on the Galaxy Note 3, keep in mind that this build will wipe all your data from the phone, so make sure you back it up.
