Windows Phone Marketplace hits 100,000 apps

Windows Phone logoAt the Windows Phone Summit today in San Francisco, Microsoft revealed that its Windows Phone Marketplace now has 100,000 apps to boast. So far the growth has been steady, as expected. Earlier in January this year, Microsoft announced that it has already reached 60,000 apps in the Marketplace. Two months after that, it bolstered to 70,000 apps with 100,000 registered developers. Following the 100,000 app submissions we reported earlier this month, Microsoft is finally making it official today.

Among the apps introduced were Zynga’s Words with Friends and Draw Something. Gameloft also announced Asphalt 7 and NOVA 3 for future multi-core devices. Nokia is also reportedly working on an app called Camera Extras, which adds Panorama and Timer modes to the existing camera interface. Then there’s Skype for Windows Phone that has just been updated with a couple of minute improvements, particularly to the contact list, as well as some fixes. In spite of the number, it’s important to note that quality is still better than quantity.
