SkyDrive finally gets rechristened as “OneDrive”

SkyDrive logoLast year, Microsoft agreed to rename its SkyDrive cloud storage service after a British court ruled against the company in a trademark dispute with TV broadcaster BSkyB. Today, Microsoft revealed the new name: OneDrive.

With the tagline "One place for everything in your life," the new name emphasizes that OneDrive is positioned as the singular solution for storing your photos, videos, documents, and everything else that you care about, accessing them from any device you own.

The OneDrive-branded software and Web front-end will be "coming soon."

Slightly muddying the water is the business-oriented companion product. Formerly known as SkyDrive Pro, it's now named OneDrive for Business, and it's... separate from regular SkyDrive. So perhaps it should be called TwoDrive.
