LG's huge Optimus 4X HD will have Tegra 3 processor, Android 4

LG logoLG has unveiled the Optimus 4X HD, a 4.7-inch smartphone set to launch in Europe in the next few months. The device is LG's first phone with a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, and is the first smartphone the company has announced leading up to Mobile Word Congress that will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Optimus 4X HD has a True IPS display at 1280x720 resolution, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. The Tegra 3 processor is clocked at 1.5GHz and the battery at 2,150mAh—with a giant display, the phone's going to need it, although the fifth core included in the Tegra 3 processor for less demanding tasks will prevent the battery from draining too fast. An 8-megapixel camera will be on the back side of the phone, and a 1.3-megapixel one on the front.

The phone is set for a second-quarter launch in Europe and will be on the floor at MWC, which runs from February 27 to March 1 in Barcelona, Spain.
