Possible LG G4 could launch with Android 5.1 installed

Android 5 logoOn the last day of February, we showed you a User Agent profile that revealed the model number LG-H818. With a 1440 x 2560 resolution screen, the model is supposedly the LG G4 for the Asian market. The model number showed up again today on the html5test website. The phone on the benchmark site came with Android 5.1 on board, version LMY29F. That happens to be the same build spotted on Android One powered handsets running Android 5.1.

Android 5.1 is expected to offer better RAM management, a more stable system, protection against sudden app closures and improved battery life. The build should also repair some problems with the "Okay Google" function, issues with notifications, and problems with sound.

Possible LG G4 could launch with Android 5.1 installed

While the LG G4 missed MWC, which allowed rivals like the HTC One M9, Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge to grab the early limelight, the most recent word is that the LG G4 will be unveiled next month. One Korean magazine said that it was tipped that LG skipped MWC just in case Samsung received all of the press. However, an LG executive had earlier explained that the LG G3 was unveiled in May last year leaving it in no rush to unwrap the phone this March. The executive added that this gives LG more time to perfect its new flagship. And if what we are seeing here is legit, the LG G4 will launch with Android 5.1 pre-installed.
