Nexus 8 reportedly mentioned in Android source code

Google logoGoogle is still planning to introduce an 8-inch tablet to the Nexus range, according to a report. The search company has apparently started to remove all trace of the term "flounder" from view in the Android source code, a codename believed to be related to the Nexus 8, and could possibly lead to an unveiling of the rumored device at the Google I/O developer conference next month.

According to MYCE, previously-disclosed information about the device has since been removed from the source code, with one developer stating that related information "should not have gone into aosp (Android Open Source Project)." Another entry claims it will be a Tegra-based tablet, with two listings suggesting it will either be a 32-bit or 64-bit device. If true, the most likely processor candidate would be the Tegra K1, which ships in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

Earlier rumors suggest Google is switching away from Asus for the next Nexus tablet, instead partnering with HTC, and that it could be the last iteration in the Nexus tablet line.
