LG has started to promote the G Pro 2 ahead of its expected launch at Mobile World Congress, by revealing more details about its imaging capabilities. Information released through its Korean social site claim the smartphone will have a 13-megapixel rear camera with an improved Optical Image Stabilization technology the company is calling "OIS Plus".
Typically, OIS is performed as a hardware feature to keep the lens steady while the device is moving, in order to avoid blurry images. OIS Plus will apparently combine the hardware shake correction with some form of software version, which is also claimed to help with photography in darker environments, though to what extent remains to be seen. LG also boasts the rear camera as being able to record HD video with a slow-motion mode, a 20-shot burst mode, and Ultra HD video recording. The front 2.1-megapixel camera is also said to be improved.
