Microsoft eyeing potential BlackBerry acquisition

Microsoft logoWith Microsoft announcing their plans to acquire Nokia’s cellphone division, many are wondering if BlackBerry too will have a “savior”. A recent report has suggested that BlackBerry investors are optimistic that someone could buy the company in the near future, thus raising the prices of BlackBerry’s shares in the process, but many are wondering which company would be the one to buy BlackBerry. Well according to a source from Bloomberg, it looks like Microsoft could be it.

It has been rumored in the past that Microsoft had always been interested in BlackBerry, although Steve Ballmer was quoted as saying back in 2011 that BlackBerry was not a worthy investment at that time. However the recent report from Bloomberg has suggested that Microsoft might still be keeping an eye on BlackBerry and one of the reasons is because of BlackBerry’s strong presence in the enterprise market. While other platforms are slowly making their way into the enterprise market, it’s hard to deny that BlackBerry’s presence is still strong and can still be felt, but we suppose if Microsoft wants to capitalize on that they should probably move quick.

In any case it does not seem that Microsoft is making any moves at the moment, but is rather keeping an eye on the situation, but what do you guys think? Do you think Microsoft could, and should, acquire BlackBerry as well?
