Fujitsu: Windows 8 has no chance beyond the Desktop

Fujitsu logoWindows 8 is already on the market and is tackling not only the PC market, but also the tablet and the mobile phone industries.

Fujitsu’s chief technology officer thinks that this could be a wrong tactic for Microsoft, as Windows 8 has slight chances to impress anywhere else beside the desktop platform.

“The whole industry is excited about tablets, but serious corporations still need desktops,” said CTO Joseph Reger, according to ComputerWeekly.

“Windows 8 cannot be a tablet proposition only. Windows 8 must have a future on the desktop as well.”

And truth is, Reger seems to be right. Companies are currently staying away from the Surface, not only because the installed OS may be a bit confusing, but also due to the fact that some of them need much more powerful workstations capable of running legacy Windows apps.
