Google Chrome logoGoogle's three year-old browser has continued its upwards trend in August, with Net Applications publishing statistics that show Chrome grabbing 15.51% market share globally. In July Chrome topped 14.33% so it's growth continues to be pretty solid.

While Chrome has consolidated its third place in the browser market, Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox both lost a little ground but remained the first and second most used browsers, respectively. IE had in August a share of 55.31% (55.97% in July) while Firefox settled for 22.57% (22.81%).

On fourth place globally we have Apple's Safari with 4.64% (4.63 in July) while on fifth there's Opera Software's Opera with 1.68% (1.70%).
